Each of us has something different to learn from each moment and circumstance in our own unique position in the world. Teachers come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes when the student is ready to learn. The curriculum at the Schoolhouse is guided by our own hearts, the place we are standing and our relationship with those around us.

Our learning is guided by our own feelings, needs and interests, rather than any outside curriculum. Rather than relying on deadlines, limits, conditions, rules, and expectations to shape our learning, we listen to our hearts, foster natural abilities, respect individual feelings and needs, and work together to create the space for these things to happen.

We are grateful to our friends, families, Garfield and NE Portland neighbors, ancestors and descendants, the unschooling, homeschooling, unconditional and attached-parenting communities in Portland, and local organizations (Multnomah County Public Library, Portland Community Media, Free Geek, Village Free School, Portland Public Schools to name a few) for supporting us and being our teachers.
