Schoolhouse in the Fall
September 18, 2008
It seems many families around the Schoolhouse are making the change of seasons shift and settling in to changes in paths. Kristen is back from the Nonviolence as a Way of Life Conference, enriched and inspired. Julian is entirely thrilled to have access to “the Chem 500″, and we’ve been doing several experiments (wishing there were some other scientists who might like to share in the process). Ben is learning more about the Hammond A100 than he thought he’d ever know. Eva has learned to snap.
There are several larger projects underway at the Schoolhouse including:
- scheduling workshops and activities around parenting, nonviolence, naturescaping, cooperative play and Spanish
- coordinating a block planting on Garfield
- organizing a network of relationship-based businesses in Portland
We’ll see where the momentum gathers and how the path continues from here. Contact Kristen if you are interested in participating in any of those projects.
Most immediately, the Schoolhouse is sponsoring a regular monthly potluck. The next one is Tuesday Sept. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the North Portland Library. Everyone welcome, all ages, with a special invitation to families in N/NE Portland who are curious about, or practice, unconditional, compassionate, connected, or attachment parenting, homeschooling or unschooling.
There are also still some openings for regular childcare. Contact Kristen if you are interested.
Correction: that’s a Hammond Model A, not an A100. I’ve at least learned that much! -Ben
